Between loss and hope: psychoeducational program for young women with breast cancer

Young women with breast cancer face unique psychosocial challenges that interrupt their life trajectory and create a complex oncological grief process. This work proposes a group psychoeducational program of eight sessions for women aged 18 to 39 at Hospital La Carlota, Montemorelos. The objective is to provide a safe space to strengthen coping strategies through a cognitive-behavioral approach. The intervention addresses key topics such as emotional regulation, support networks, and adaptation to a new reality. To check if the program can be implemented and to see its effects, an exploratory pilot study will be performed. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the EORTC QLQ-BR23 questionnaire will be used for evaluation. It is expected that this intervention will not only show the participants' interest and attendance but also favor the reduction of emotional distress and improve quality of life, setting the stage for specialized care protocols for this population.
